CHARLENE LARSON

For Brisbane School Board

A Trusted Neighbor. An Independent Voice.

I believe strong public education is the foundation of a thriving community. I will bring a fresh perspective, careful oversight, thoughtful questions, and an independent community voice to every decision.

Putting Students at the Center of Every Decision

Our schools deserve thoughtful leadership that supports educators, listens to families, uses public resources responsibly, and - most importantly - asks how our decisions are serving students.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE WITH MEASURABLE RESULTS

I support strong teaching and learning while asking a simple question: How will we know our investments are helping our students thrive?

TRANSPARENT, INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

I will listen to students, families, teachers, staff and our community; ask thoughtful questions, explain decisions clearly, and measure results.

SAFE, SUPPORTIVE SCHOOLS FOR EVERY CHILD

My experience as a CASA volunteer reinforced something I believe deeply; every child deserves an advocate. Students learn best when they feel safe, supported, valued and included.

RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP OF EVERY DOLLAR

As a former Federal Contracting Officer, I understand the responsibility that comes with managing public funds. I will bring careful oversight to district finances and make sure public resources are thoughtful, transparent, and justified.

About Charlene

20+ Year Resident of Brisbane - Friends of Brisbane Library Board Member - Former Altamar Resident & Board President - Former CASA

My professional career and years of community service have taught me the value of accountability, careful decision-making, listening, and service to others.

As a former Federal Contracting Officer, I worked in an environment where public dollars demanded accountability.

Through CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), I learned firsthand the importance of advocating for children/foster children—particularly those who may not always have a strong voice of their own. I mentored and guided my CASA child through challenging events both personal and educational.

And through my service with Friends of the Brisbane Library, I’ve seen again how education and community institutions help make Brisbane the special place it is. I joined the Friends of Brisbane Library Board in response to the wave of book bannings across the country, to make sure our children continue to have access to all resources provided by the library.  I want to be a voice to stand up for those community members who do not have the courage or ability to stand up for themselves.

Why I’m Running

“I won’t measure the success of our schools by how many programs we fund. I’ll ask whether those investments are actually helping our students succeed.”

I support investing in our students and teachers. I also believe every major investment should come with a simple question: How will we know it worked?

School board decisions should be thoughtful, transparent, and focused on results that matter for students.

I am running to bring an independent community perspective and a focus on results to the Brisbane School Board.
